Aphrodisias: An ancient Roman city in modern Turkey

For the past 10 years Majors in Architecture have joined a team of experts in the fields of architecture, archaeology, art history, and preservation in the excavation and documentation of the ancient Roman city of Aphrodisias in modern Turkey. During the summer students work under the guidance of archaeological specialists to excavate and document the city’s monuments. New York University has conducted extensive excavations in Aphrodisias since 1961 under the aegis of the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism and in collaboration with Oxford University since 1995.
