The JUNE 5th MEMORIAL PARK is now open to the public. The memorial park was constructed in remembrance of the six people who lost their lives as a result of the collapse of a building during demolition on June 5, 2013. Located at 22nd and Market Street, Philadelphia, the site of the tragedy, the memorial also honors first responders and celebrates the new demolition safety regulations adopted by the City of Philadelphia. The project was designed by two graduates of the University of Pennsylvania – architect Scott Aker (MS in Architecture, 2015), a Lecturer in the undergraduate Major in Architecture, and artist Barbara Fox (BA with a dual major in Fine Arts & Political Science, 1974).
